We say it every year, and every year it's still true: Halloween Horror Nights is the reason our fall calendar revolves around Orlando. And 2026 is a big one — the event turns 35, and Universal is going all out. Here's everything that's been confirmed for HHN 35, and how we'd plan around it.
The dates
Halloween Horror Nights 2026 runs 48 select nights from August 28 through November 1 at Universal Studios Florida — one of the longest runs in the event's history, and an unusually early start. Two Premium Scream Night events, with shorter waits and select all-you-care-to-enjoy food, are set for August 27 and October 19. And this year, Scream Early access lets ticketed guests start hitting houses at 2 p.m.
The theme: an Infernal Carnival of Nightmares
This year's event is themed the “Infernal Carnival of Nightmares,” and for the first time, two of HHN's most famous original icons share the marquee: Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow reign together as the event's twisted ringmasters. If you've been coming to HHN for years, that pairing alone is a reason to go — these two have historically been rivals, not partners.
All 10 haunted houses
Universal is running 10 all-new houses this year, and the full lineup is now out: Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control, Sinners, Stranger Things 5, H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: A Halloween Fright-Tacular!, MADLANDS: Caged Cannibals, Cybergoria, INVASION: Alien Abduction, Evil Dead Burn, Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness, and Hellraiser.
That's a heavy mix of licensed names — Stranger Things, Hellraiser, Evil Dead, and rock legend Ozzy Osbourne among them — alongside Universal's own original concepts. The Stranger Things house is tied to the show's final season, so expect it to be one of the first to draw a line.
The scare zones and streets
Between the houses, the streets fill with scare zones: the Infernal Carnival of Nightmares, Sideshow of Decay, Downtown Clown Town, and Fortnite's Fortnitemares, plus roaming experiences like Mel's Die-In Zombies and Club Horror. The Fortnite tie-in is the interesting one — the kind of crossover that pulls in a younger crowd who might not know Jack the Clown yet.
How we'd do it
A few hard-won notes from doing this event too many times. The early weeks — that late-August into September stretch — are the least crowded, which matters a lot when a single house can hit a two-hour wait on a Saturday in October. If you're serious about all 10, an Express Pass or one of the Premium Scream Night tickets is close to essential on a busy night. And the 2 p.m. Scream Early start is a genuine gift: get in early, knock out a few houses before the sun goes down and the lines explode.
