On July 20, we saved a copy of every price on every menu Disney World publishes — 28,720 prices from menus across Disney World's 351 listed dining locations, from Dole Whips to steakhouse entrées. On August 13, we did it again and compared the two, item by item.
Disney doesn't announce menu price changes. They just appear. So we stopped waiting for announcements.
The headline: prices barely moved. Of 15,665 menu items we could match exactly across both dates, 46 changed price — about 0.3%. Forty went up, six went down. But the ones that moved, moved hard: the typical increase was 9.6%, and the biggest was 37.5%.
What went up
Truffle Fries — Ale & Compass (Yacht Club): $8.00 → $11.00 (+37.5%)
Steak and Eggs — Ale & Compass (Yacht Club): $21.00 → $26.00 (+23.8%)
Plum Wine — Katsura Grill (EPCOT): $9.00 → $11.00 (+22.2%)
Crushed Garden Peas — Cookes of Dublin (Disney Springs): $6.99 → $8.49 (+21.5%)
Rix Wedge salad — Laguna Bar (Coronado Springs): $14.00 → $17.00 (+21.4%)
Steak & Eggs — Rix Sports Bar & Grill (Coronado Springs): $27.00 → $32.00 (+18.5%)
Chicken Strips, six allergy-friendly listings — Rosie's All-American Café (Hollywood Studios): $10.99 → $12.99 (+18.2%)
A pattern worth noticing: Ale & Compass and Rix Sports Bar are two of the restaurants that overhauled their menus in late July — a shake-up that was widely reported for its new and removed dishes (Inside the Magic, July 29; link below). What wasn't reported anywhere, as far as we can find: several dishes that survived those overhauls came out the other side costing more. The Steak and Eggs at Ale & Compass is the same menu item it was in July — it's just $5 more now.
What went "down" — read these carefully
Six listed prices fell, and we'd caution against reading most of them as Disney discounting anything. When a listed price drops from $20.59 to $6.59 overnight — as Be Our Guest's Royal Berry Spritzer did — our read is that this is most likely a menu-listing correction (for example, a price that previously included a souvenir glass being relisted without it), not a markdown. We track what Disney's menus say; when a change looks like a correction rather than a price cut, we'll say so rather than hand Disney a generosity headline it didn't earn.
Royal Berry Spritzer — Be Our Guest (Magic Kingdom): $20.59 → $6.59
Château Shimmer — Be Our Guest (Magic Kingdom): $21.75 → $7.75
Mickey-shaped Waffles — Ale & Compass (Yacht Club): $9.25 → $5.00
Coconut Shrimp — T-REX (Disney Springs): $28.79 → $16.29
Big Stack Pancakes — Rix Sports Bar & Grill (Coronado Springs): $17.00 → $16.00
Chicken Tenders & Chips — Cookes of Dublin (Disney Springs): $17.50 → $17.49
That last one is real: Cookes of Dublin knocked a penny off its chicken tenders.
The bigger story is the churn
Price changes were rare. Menu changes were not. Between our two snapshots, 227 items disappeared from Disney World menus entirely and 1,359 new ones appeared.
Three things drove that. The late-July menu overhaul removed and replaced dishes across more than a dozen locations, from Pecos Bill to the Grand Floridian (Inside the Magic, July 29). Halloween-season items rolled onto menus at more than a dozen Magic Kingdom spots in early August (Disney Food Blog, August 5). And whole new venues came online: Disney's dining listings added The Cake Bake Shop at the BoardWalk — restaurant, bakery, and its Roses of Gold afternoon tea — plus Blue Ribbon Corn Dog and BoardWalk Ice Cream, while the Grand Floridian's afternoon tea listing came off as that resort's café sits closed for refurbishment through October (Disney Food Blog, July 21).
The overall price of eating at Disney World, meanwhile, held steady: the median menu item across the resort is $11.49, unchanged from July.
How we did this (and how to check our work)
These numbers come from Disney World's own published menus — all 355 dining locations Disney lists, captured July 20 and again August 13. We match items across dates by restaurant, exact item name, and size; if Disney renames a dish, we count it as a menu change rather than guessing it's the same item at a new price. That's also why "46 changed" is a floor, not a ceiling — a renamed dish with a new price won't show up here.
